What is Reiki?
The word Reiki, pronounced "Ray-Key", comes from the Japanese words "rei"
meaning spirit, and "ki" meaning life force energy. It is usually translated as
"Universal Life Force Energy." Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive holistic energy
healing system that yields powerful results for the body, mind and spirit. When
using Reiki to heal, the practitioner channels healing energy through his/ her
hands to the client either directly or from a distance. Everything in the
universe is made up of and connected by energy. By transmitting the healing
energy of the universe along energetic pathways and through the practitioner's
hands to the client, Reiki heals as deeply as needed within to create a shift
within health.
Why is Reiki such an ideal addition for animals?
If you have heard of Reiki before you have most likely heard this performed
on humans, but it also is an ideal complementary therapy for animals. It is
gentle, painless, and non-invasive and stress- free for animals. Reiki heals at
all levels of an animal's being: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.
Reiki is always safe and comfortable for both animal and healer. It can be given
at a distance and adapted to any problem that affects animals, so it can be used
under any circumstances. There is virtually no problem or circumstance that
cannot be treated effectively with Reiki.
How Reiki can help animals heal?
Practicing Reiki with your animal companion deepens your bond as well as the
level of understanding and trust between you. With healthy animals, Reiki can
help maintain health on all levels; Reiki can heal physical illness and injury
in animals as well as problems on emotional and spiritual levels. It is a
powerful tool for emotional healing following trauma, abuse, neglect, fear and
trust issues, reaching deeply into even the most damaged spirits. For
high-strung or nervous animals, Reiki induces deep relaxation and
stress-reduction and, over time, can reduce the tendency toward nervousness.
Reiki can accelerate healing after surgery or illness. It compliments both
conventional and alternative therapies and can enhance their actions and lessen
their side effects. Finally, for a dying animal and his people, Reiki provides
compassionate support that can make the transition more peaceful for all
concerned.

Why Marina has chosen to Add Animal Reiki to her Career
I love my nutrition and personal training business. I enjoy seeing my
clients get stronger and healthier after following my recommendations on a
consistent basis, but I also have a strong passion for animals ( ever since
I was a little girl) and I have always been attracted to the ones that might
need a little extra assistance. I have always wanted to rescue & save all of
the injured, abused, abandoned and lost animals while growing up. I have a
passion of one day having a Rescue Ranch called "Healing Paws Ranch",
where I can rescue as many black dogs (black animals don't get adopted or
rescued as often) from abusive or abandoned situations. I am sure I will have a
few non-black rescue doggies at this future ranch of mine as well.
I have been learning more and more about the animal world the last few years
and was instantly drawn to Animal Reiki. I took my first introduction and animal
reiki course with
Reiki Master Teacher Kathleen Prasad at
Brighthaven Sanctuary in Santa Rosa a few years ago and then continued my study
of Reiki with
Reiki Master Teacher - Lori Furbush and
recently received my Reiki Master Teacher certification with Lori.
I have been working with Animal Reiki with my four rescued animals (2 rescued
dogs and 2 rescued cats) that all have had some imbalances from their previous
situations before being adopted. I have seen some amazing shifts within them in
the last year. I have wanted to continue following my passion with this, so I
have decided to include this up in my life of working with all animals. I am
currently volunteering every Friday afternoon at
Whispering Willows Sanctuary in Santa
Rosa where there are horses, a pony, chickens, geese, dogs, and several goats to
work on. They have all come from difficult situations. I have enjoyed being
there and seeing their health and behavior shift in a positive way. I also plan
to volunteer at a local animal shelter to work with more cats and dogs.
I have also started learning more about animal communication and have taken
one course to learn the basics. I hope to add this within the next year as
another service to offer my animal clients (and their humans).
